Langtang Valley Trek Itinerary

Green Nomad Treks will be waiting for you at the airport, holding a signboard with your name. After your arrival, you will be escorted to Thamel, where you will spend the night. The journey from the airport to Thamel takes approximately 45 minutes. During your leisure time today, you will receive a brief overview of the trek.

Our incredible journey on the Langtang Valley Panorama Trek begins with an early-morning drive into the highlands of Langtang, heading towards Syabrubesi. This exhilarating drive takes us through numerous rural villages and towns, reaching warmer areas like Trisuli Bazaar. After a brief rest, we continue our journey to Ramche and the cooler town of Dhunche, which sits at 1,960 meters and serves as the gateway to Langtang National Park. Dhunche is an important town in the Rasuwa district and the Langtang region. From here, the drive continues along a winding, downhill road until we arrive in the village of Syabrubesi, where travelers will spend their first night in the Langtang region.

Duration: 7 hours
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Our first day of walking begins with a few hours of ascent towards remote farming areas and villages, continuing alongside the riverside and reaching Bamboo Place, which has a few tea shops and lodges. After a brief rest, we proceed through a cool forest of rhododendron, oak, and pine trees before entering a valley and following the Langtang River, fed by the glaciers of the Langtang peaks. We conclude our day’s trek at the Lama Hotel, where we will spend the night.

Duration: 7 hours
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

After a pleasant evening accompanied by the sound of the flowing river, we begin our morning walk with an uphill ascent through a gorge of dense forest, eventually reaching a lovely spot at Ghodetabla (horse stable). Here, the altitude gradually increases, and the air becomes cooler. After lunch, we continue our trek to Langtang village for an overnight stay, passing through more woodland before entering the larger area of Langtang village, a charming moderate-sized community inhabited by Tamang and Bhotia ethnic groups. (This community was completely devastated by the powerful earthquakes that struck on April 25th and May 12th, 2015.)

Duration: 6 hours
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Today’s trek leads us to one of the first highlights of our journey: Kyanjin Gompa in the Langtang Valley. The morning trek begins with a short, steep ascent as the tree line gives way to small bushes of rhododendron, juniper, and prickly barberry. After a lovely and breathtaking morning walk, we arrive at Kyanjin Gompa for an overnight stay as we gradually enter a vast, stunning glacial valley surrounded by towering snow-capped mountains on both sides.

Kyanjin, a summer pasture and grazing area for yaks, is located in the picturesque Langtang Valley. This scenic spot offers close-up views of the Langtang Lirung glacier and its icefall. The name Kyanjin comes from a historic gompa (monastery) that now lies in ruins atop a rocky moraine ridge. While in Kyanjin, you can also visit the Yak Cheese Factory, established 30 years ago with the help of Swiss technical expertise.

Duration: 4 hours
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

To explore the stunning surroundings, you can take a short climb to the summit of Kyanjin Ri at 4,773 meters for breathtaking mountain views. Alternatively, you can hike to Tsergo Ri, which features steep slopes and requires about 4 hours of climbing to reach the summit, where you can enjoy a 360° panorama of the surrounding mountains.

From the hills of Kyanjin and the top of Tsergo Ri, you'll be treated to spectacular views of Chimsedang Lekh and Kangjal Himal, with a ridge of peaks surrounding the valley to the south. You'll also see Naya Kanga at 5,844 meters, along with impressive views of major mountains flanking the Langtang Valley, including Ganchenpo at 6,387 meters, Dorje Lakpa at 6,990 meters, Pemthang Karpo Ri at 6,830 meters, and Langtang Lirung at 7,245 meters.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

After a refreshing and enjoyable overnight stay at Kyanjin in the beautiful Langtang Valley, we begin our morning walk with a long descent back to Lama Hotel. The trail takes us through Langtang village and Ghodetabla, following the Langtang Khola. We will return to Lama Hotel for our overnight accommodation.

Duration: 7 hours
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

From Lama Hotel, we begin our morning walk with a descent towards Bamboo, a small area featuring a few tea houses that serve as lodges. After a pleasant short rest, we continue along the Langtang River. We will arrive at Syabrubesi in the afternoon, leaving you with free time to relax.

Duration: 6 hours
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

In the morning, we embark on a drive along mountain roads, passing through the farm villages of Tamang, Thulo Varkhu, Dhunche (the district headquarters of Rasuwa), Thade, and Ramche. The journey continues downhill to Trisuli and then follows a scenic route through the mountains, returning to your hotel in Kathmandu.
